We are delighted to say that Stourport driver Pete Rolph will also be in Harrogate as he has reached the final three for Tanker Driver of the Year !!! Well done Pete
Obviously you are all no doubt aware of the results of the ballot from the Unite tanker drivers. This is clearly a rapidly developing situation which Hingley & Callow will be monitoring closely in terms of stocks and delivery. It is our intention to protect our regular customer base and maintain the current level of service, however we cannot rule out disruptions. If you wish to discuss this then please call us.
It was with interest today that we reviewed the last 12 month sales figures for our supermarket at Chaddesley Garage filling station.
Suprisingly smokers requisites sales have dropped by 6.09% and sales of spirits by 15.20% although wine sales increased by 5.85%, cider by 19.24% and lager by 13.25%. It appears that customers have switched to less expensive drinks in the recession and perhaps given up smoking but the other thing to mention is that medicinal sales have increased by 7.04% – not entirely sure what conclusions to draw from all of the above !
The Chancellor yesterday announced that the 3.02ppl fuel duty increase that was due to take effect on 1st January 2012 will be deferred to 1st August 2012. The inflationery increase which was planned for 1st August 2012, currently expected to be worth 1.92ppl will be cancelled.
Summer and Winter fuel grades came under “The Motor Fuel (composition and content) Regulations 1994”, specifically statutory instrument 2295.
These regulations stated that during the period 22nd October to 15th March no diesel or gas oil should be sold that does not comply with the Winter specification, although there is always a period of grace allowed so that Summer grade tanks can be emptied. This is what the market has until now worked to.
Like so much else however, an amendment to these regulations arising out of a European Directive now leaves it “to the producers and to the market to decide when to distribute Winter fuel grades”. This seems to have been fully taken on board by the refiners this year and we have just been notified that whilst our suppliers started railing Winter grade product into the terminals just after mid October the official date remains 100% by November 15th.
If you require the anti-wax additive to protect any fuel purchased before that date then please remember to order it with your fuel. Anti wax costs £15.00 plus VAT and one bottle treats 1000 litres of fuel.
Should you wish to discuss this then please do not hesitate to contact us.
